GMRS Information

We’re thrilled to share some great news with you!

Audrain Emergency Communications Incorporated (AECI) is excited to introduce our newly established GMRS Repeater. Wondering about GMRS? It’s the General Mobile Radio Service, and getting involved is as simple as obtaining an FCC license. This system is a game-changer, seamlessly connecting emergency communication enthusiasts with licensed amateurs for effective coordination with essential organizations or within the AECI network. Our addition significantly strengthens our network of Amateur (Ham) radio operators, ensuring a dependable emergency communication system, as well as facilitating communication for GMRS users. The repeater operates on a frequency of 462.600 MHz with an input of 467.600 MHz and a PL Tone of 141.3, tailored for short-distance two-way voice communication via hand-held, mobile radios, and repeater systems.

Our 40-watt GMRS repeater system, with its antenna at 400 feet, delivers expansive coverage that spans from Mexico to Paris, Columbia, Centralia, Fulton, Sturgeon, and Vandalia when using a 50-watt mobile GMRS radio. With an external antenna, base stations can achieve an even more extensive range.

If you’re drawn to emergency communications but are unsure about obtaining an Amateur Radio License, the GMRS license presents a straightforward and cost-effective option. Simply visit the FCC website, register for an account, and for a $35 fee, you can secure a 10-year license that extends to your whole family. We warmly invite you to contact us if this sparks your interest.

As the custodians of this repeater, we are committed to following certain rules, which include the proper use of FCC callsigns and ensuring all conversations remain family-friendly, steering clear of discussing Religion, Politics, or Business. For a complete list of our Repeater Guidelines, please visit our website.

Are you ready to become part of our network? Once you’ve got your license, get in touch with us, and we’ll guide you through configuring your radio to connect with the repeater. We can’t wait to have you join our community!
